Hatha Yoga -is a holistic system which brings about greater health and vitality by uniting body, mind and spirit, utilising physical postures, breathing techniques and relaxation. Each teacher offers their own personal variation of Hatha Yoga :
Fiona's classes weave together a cohesive and integrated heart-centred approach to yoga and meditation. Her classes blend conscious breathing with gentle vinyasa (flowing) sequences, meditation, relaxation and yogic philosophy. A key focus of Fiona's classes is to assist students to move with grace and ease and work to peel away the superficial layers of the self, reconnecting with their true, natural, authentic selves - in other words, to come home.
Mark's classes (YogaZen) are a harmonious balance of dynamic vinyasa flow, mindful and grounded static postures, all beautifully interweaved with opening and nourishing Yin Yoga.
Overlaying this is a rich and rejuvenating blend of conscious breathing (pranayama), meditation and relaxation.
Penne's teaching is influenced by various styles (Sivananda & gentle Vinyasa), with a focus on breath awareness, and creating a safe & nurturing environment for students. Classes include asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation and relaxation. Everyone is welcome as poses can be adapted for all levels.
Strong & Active Hatha Yoga - Mark is introducing a new "strong and active" variation to the Saturday 4.00pm class this term. Whilst open to all levels, it is aimed at those students looking to deepen and strengthen their physical practice. It won't necessarily be technically advanced but you will work up a sweat, build strength improve your flexibility!
Beginners Yoga - classes are designed to be an enjoyable, educational and safe introduction to yoga for people of all ages and levels of fitness. The relaxed atmosphere allows you to feel comfortable exploring the new activity of yoga at your own pace. An ideal class for absolute beginners or anyone who prefers a gentle practice, as well as those who may be recovering from injury or illness.
Restorative Yoga - is a gentle practice which has a beneficial and restorative effect on the whole system. Adaptions, chairs and individual support are all offered where appropriate. Suitable for all stages of life and for those recovering from, or managing, injury, illness or stress-related anxiety and for all who enjoy a gentle, reflective, nourishing start to their week.
Body, Breath and Mind - Dynamic and flowing movements bring together body, breath and mind, The combination of conscious breathing and intelligent action energises the whole system.
Relaxation (savasana) restores and conscious breathing (pranayama) prepares the mind for meditation and reflection.
Calma Yoga - is a feminine style which has healing as its foundation and it may involve core strength, self awareness, breathing techniques, positive affirmations, aromatherapy, acupressure, self-massage, inspirational verses and chanting. Each class concludes with a guided relaxation and reiki.
Community Class - We are very excited to be able to offer a community class with proceeds going to Brainwave Foundation, supporting children with brain related illness. This is a small class & suitable for those just new to Yoga. Start your day with a hour of gentle yoga & relaxation & experience also the joy of giving.....$12 class fee donation.
Creative Dance -is based on developing each child's dancing style. Dynamics, spatial awareness and sensitivity to others are promoted through design of the dance space, props and simple but effective directions from the teacher. Inspiration is provided by music from all ages and cultures and the world around them. Simple yoga postures are introduced and develop with time.
Children's Yoga -classes are designed to help children gain an inner strength of body and mind within a fun and happy atmosphere. Classes include poses to stretch and strengthen the body, foster positive thinking and enhance concentration, enabling children/teenagers to learn more easily.
Teen Yoga- builds flexibility, strength and balance of body and mind, helping teenagers to cope with the pressures of life, adolescence, school and peers. These yoga classes are designed to help build a strong foundation so they may become self-assured, clear thinking and responsible individuals. They also help deal with various health problems.
Yoga for Pregnancy and Childbirth -focuses on preparation of the body through breathing and exercises for use during labour as well as keeping mum in shape. While these classes cover yoga postures and movement, emphasis is placed on positions which will assist in an active birth.
Stretches, pelvic floor exercises and breathing are covered with the use of visualisation to keep the mind, body and baby connected.
Gita Yoga- targets the endocrine system or hormone producing glands, returning them to balanced functioning via the classical age old yoga postures (asanas). Each posture is
explained so the benefits are maximised. Gita Yoga is much more than physical movements, it involves your whole being and total health. Gita Yoga is about the mind/body connection and
nurturing the Spirit within.
Yoga Therapy & private tuition - these classes are beneficial for students wishing to deepen their personal practice and understanding of yoga and also for students with particular health
conditions/needs. Also, for those individuals who are unsure about which yoga class would be appropriate, private tuition can be a nice way of introducing you to yoga. Individuals receive a simple, personalised yoga practice specific to their particular needs and these practices may evolve over time.
