Hatha Yoga is a holistic system that brings about greater health and vitality by uniting body, mind and spirit, utilising physical postures, breathing techniques and relaxation. Each teacher offers their own personal variation of Hatha Yoga.
Susanne Calman
Susanne founded the Williamstown Yoga Centre 16 years ago. In April she steps down as co-owner & principal teacher but will continue teaching her classes.
Susanne's mother Bette Calman was one of the pioneers of Yoga in Australia in the 60's & is still teaching today at the ripe age of 84.
Oriignally trained in Sivananda Hatha Yoga over 22 years ago since then has developed her own style "Calma Yoga" which holds no allegiance to any one style or tradition.
Beginning each class with a herbal tea from fresh ingredients that signals to your body & mind that this is your time to be nurtured & nourished......
In each class you will be encouraged to witness your body, mind & emotions so that you will become aware of the subtle changes that occur without force. Your body will slowly unfold, tension will dissolve, the overwhelmed mind will be soothed & stuck emotions will be eased.
The class concludes with a guided relaxations & it is in the stillness that deep healing occurs.
Susanne also includes visualizations, breathing techniques, positive affirmations, aromatherapy, acupressure, self-massage, inspirational verses, chanting & meditation.

Fiona is the Principal of the Williamstown Yoga Centre & has recently bought the centre from Susanne. Fiona dedicated yoga teacher and mother, Fiona is passionate about supporting individuals to find a sense of inner peace and stillness amidst the challenges and tensions of contemporary life. Fiona began practicing yoga in the 1990s and went on to study and explore a variety of yoga styles until yoga became a committed and everyday part of her life. She now teaches at Williamstown Yoga Centre and is part of the teaching faculty of the Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching (Council of Adult Education).
Fiona trained and qualified in the style of Sivananda Hatha Yoga, has completed a Certificate in Prescriptive Yoga Therapy, and she has also obtained a Masters Degree in Womens Studies. With experience of many different yoga styles and traditions, Fiona weaves together a cohesive and integrated heart-centred approach to yoga and meditation. Her classes blend gentle vinyasa (flowing) sequences with visualisations, pranayama, meditation and yogic philosophy.
Fiona also conducts regular yoga retreats in Bali.
Penne's teaching is influenced by various styles, with a focus on breath awareness & creating a safe & nurturing environment for students. Classes include gentle stretching, postures, breathing exercises, relaxation, meditation & yogic philosophy. Classes are open to all levels, as postures can be adapted to suit those new to yoga.
Penne has completed Level 2 Teacher Training with John Ogilivie at Byron Yoga in NSW.

Gina holds an Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching with the Australian Institute of Yoga Therapy along with a teaching certificate in meditation and yoga philosophy from Transformation Meditation (USA). She is also completing a home study program with the school of Integrative Yoga Therapy, Ohio USA, and plans to expand her teacher training with a Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy.
Gina has been a serious student of yoga since 1998, and after contending with her own series of personal and life challenges was drawn to deepen her practice and subsequently teach. She is passionate about bringing yoga into the lives of others and is an advocate for the healing qualities yoga possesses and its ability to open and transform lives.
These classes are designed to be an enjoyable, educational and safe introduction to yoga for people of all ages and levels of fitness. The relaxed atmosphere allows you to feel comfortable exploring the new activity of yoga at your own pace.
An ideal class for absolute beginners or anyone who prefers a gentle practice,
as well as those who may be recovering from injury or illness.

Student teacher Ron Coleman first began practising Yoga 31 years ago and is completing an Advanced Diploma in Yoga Teaching. this is a small class & suitable for those just new to Yoga
